 2022 Preview 


       Banks Academy completed the 2021 season with a 6-5 record. With their 1-3 region record and a fourth place finish in Class AA region one, the Jets earned a spot in the playoffs in 2021. Banks Academy's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Autauga Academy by a score of 47-14.

       No team at Banks Academy ever won more games in a season than the six victories last year. The Jets qualified for the playoffs for the first time in the school's history in 2021. The Jets have never won a playoff game in the school's history. They would like to break through and pick up that first post season victory in 2022. The Jets hope to continue the success they had last season. Coach Watson saw improvement as they won six games following a 1-9 record in 2020.

      

       Banks Academy is a relatively new football program having fielded a team only three seasons. They have managed a record of 13-18 over the past three years.




       The Jets will be under the direction of new head football coach Jermaine Watson as they enter the 2022 season.  

       The Banks Academy Jets will play in Class AA region two during the 2022 season. Following realignment, the Jets remain in AA but move from region one over to region two.

       It will be an uphill battle for the Jets if they hope to grab one of the four playoff slots in region two this season. Unfortunately, Banks Academy finds themselves in a very competitive region with other playoff quality teams. They may need to pull off an upset or two to have any shot at the postseason.

       The Jets open the 2022 season on the road against non-region opponent Bessemer Academy on Friday, August 26 at Norton Field. Last year the Bessemer Academy Rebels finished with an overall record of 3-7 and in third place in Class AAA region two. The Rebels lost in the first round of the Class AAA playoffs to Lee-Scott Academy by a score of 21-15.

       Banks Academy and Bessemer Academy have met a total of 4 times on the football field. The Jets have a 3-1-0 record against the Rebels. They last met in with

       Banks Academy returns AISA All-State Senior defensive lineman DeMarion Daniels. He was named to the second team last season. The Jets also return Senior running back Josh Bonner. He was named to the second team.
