Slocomb completed the 2016 season with a 4-6 record. Last year Slocomb finished sixth in Class 3A region two with a 3-4 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs. Slocomb took a step backwards last year with their first losing season since 2010. The Red Tops lost as many games as in any season since 2010. Slocomb was inconsistent offensively last year and they need some improvement if the Red Tops want to be competitive. They only averaged 17.0 points a game. Since 2010, Slocomb has gone a combined 43-33. Their 57.0% winning percentage ranks 23rd in Class 3A over the past seven seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Slocomb has managed to compile a record of 139-150. Their 48.0% winning percentage ranks 32nd in Class 3A and 218th in the AHSAA. The Red Tops are led by head coach Richard Tisdale who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 4-6 record in his first season at Slocomb. The Red Tops have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Tisdale. Coach Tisdale's overall record as a head football coach in one season stands at 4-6 (40.0%). The Slocomb Red Tops will play in Class 3A region two during the 2017 season. It will be an uphill battle for the Red Tops if they hope to grab one of the four playoff slots in region two this season. Cade Price returns for his Junior season after completing 54 of 102 passes for 795 yards and 7 touchdowns. The defense returns Senior DB Adam Newton who got in on 69 tackles last season. The Red Tops open the 2017 season at home against non-region opponent Rehobeth on Friday, September 1 at Red Top Stadium. Last year the Rehobeth Rebels finished with an overall record of 2-8 and in sixth place in Class 5A region two. Slocomb and Rehobeth have met a total of 63 times on the football field. The Red Tops have a 29-33-1 record against the Rebels. They last met in 2016 with Rehobeth winning by a score of 28-7. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
