 2016 Preview 


       South Choctaw Academy completed the 2015 season with a 7-5 record. Last year South Choctaw Academy captured the region one title and a number one seed in the Class A playoffs. They finished region play with a 5-1 record. Last year South Choctaw Academy reached the semi-finals before falling to a very good Chambers Academy team by the score of 22-19.

       Since 2010, South Choctaw Academy has gone a combined 30-41. Their 42.0% winning percentage ranks 9th in Class A over the past six seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, South Choctaw Academy has managed to compile a record of 131-147. Their 47.0% winning percentage ranks 7th in Class A and 23rd in the AISA.

       The Rebels are led by head coach Charlie Taylor who is entering his tenth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 68-40 over the past nine seasons at South Choctaw Academy. Under his direction the Rebels have qualified for the playoffs a total of eight times. They have won three region crowns with Coach Taylor. Coach Taylor led South Choctaw Academy to a state championship in 2007.

       Coach Taylor's overall record as a head football coach in thirteen season stands at 82-67 (55.0%). Over the course of his career, Coach Taylor's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of eight times and won three region championships.

       The South Choctaw Academy Rebels will play in Class A region two during the 2016 season. Following realignment, the Rebels remain in A but move from region one over to region two.

       The Rebels should be considered one of the favorites for the region two championship this season and a home game in the first round of the playoffs.

       The Rebels open the 2016 season on the road against non-region opponent Wayne MS on Thursday, August 18.

       This will be the first meeting between South Choctaw Academy and Wayne MS on the football field.

  


Great Moments in Alabama High School Football History

Parrish scored a record 77 points in a playoff game against Cedar Bluff in 2001. The Tornados were shutout the following week 19-0 by Courtland.
