Calera completed the 2015 season with a 7-4 record. With their 5-2 region record and a third place finish in Class 5A region four, the Eagles earned a spot in the playoffs in 2015. Calera's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Eufaula by a score of 48-27. Since 2010, Calera has gone a combined 45-22. Their 67.0% winning percentage ranks 10th in Class 5A over the past six seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Calera has managed to compile a record of 147-125. Their 54.0% winning percentage ranks 26th in Class 5A and 144th in the AHSAA. Head football coach Wayne McKeller leaves the program at Calera after five successful seasons at the helm. His last four teams finished a combined 35-11 with four playoff appearances. The four consecutive post season spots had previously only been accomplished by one other coach at the school. Andrew Zow stepped down from the head coaching position at Montevallo in January to accept the same position at Calera. The former Crimson Tide quarterback led Montevallo to the second round of the playoffs in 2015 before losing to eventual state champions Leeds. His teams at Montevallo finished a combined 13-29 in four seasons. Coach Zow's overall record as a head football coach in four season stands at 13-29 (31.0%). Over the course of his career, Coach Zow's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of one time . The Calera Eagles will play in Class 5A region three during the 2016 season. Following realignment, the Eagles remain in 5A but move from region four over to region three. The Eagles should be considered one of the favorites for the region three championship this season and a home game in the first round of the playoffs. The Eagles open the 2016 season on the road against non-region opponent Mae Jemison on Friday, August 19 at Louis Crews Stadium. Calera and Mae Jemison have met a total of 2 times on the football field. The Eagles have a 1-1-0 record against the Jaguars. They last met in with Calera returns 5A All-State Senior athlete Kyle Harrell. He was named to the honorable mention team last season.
