2016 Preview | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
The Asbury Rams will field a football team for the first time this fall. They will be led by head football coach Jeff Powell as they prepare for their initial season on the gridiron. The Asbury Rams will play in Class 2A region six during the 2016 season. The Rams will have a difficult time competing in Class 2A with a young team in their initial season. This season, the Rams will be a long shot for one of the four playoff spots in region six. Asbury has competed in other sports for a dozen years and will now make the leap to the football field in the AHSAA. New programs generally struggle for a few seasons to establish a winning program. The Rams open the 2016 season on the road against non-region opponent Woodville on Thursday, August 25. Last year the Woodville Panthers finished with an overall record of 4-7 and in third place in Class 1A region seven. The Panthers lost in the first round of the Class 1A playoffs to Victory Christian by a score of 33-19. Asbury and Woodville have met a total of 4 times on the football field. The Rams have a 1-3-0 record against the Panthers. They last met in with | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
