2016 Preview | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Alabama Christian finished the 2015 season with a disappointing 1-9 record. Last year Alabama Christian finished seventh in Class 5A region two with a 0-6 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs. The Eagles lost as many games as in any season since 1994. The Eagles have not qualified for the playoffs since the 2009 season and would love to end that streak this year. The Eagles last playoff victory came during the 1992 season. They would love to break through this year with a post season win. The offense struggled putting points on the score board as Alabama Christian averaged scoring just 10.6 points a game. The Eagles also struggled on the defensive side of the football as they found little success in stopping opposing offenses and allowed an average of 40.2 points a game. The Eagles would prefer to forget the past two seasons as they have finished with a 4-16 record. Since 2010, the Alabama Christian football program has struggled with a record of 17-43. Over the past 25 seasons, Alabama Christian has managed to compile a record of 109-150. Their 42.0% winning percentage ranks 40th in Class 4A and 264th in the AHSAA. The Eagles are led by head coach Bill Moore who is entering his fourth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 6-24 over the past three seasons at Alabama Christian. The Eagles have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Moore. Coach Moore's overall record as a head football coach in three season stands at 6-24 (20.0%). The Alabama Christian Eagles will play in Class 4A region two during the 2016 season. The Eagles may find the schedule slightly easier this season with the move down in classification from Class 5A to 4A. They will compete in region two this year. Overall, the region is among the weakest in the state. Qualifying for one of the playoffs spots could be a little easier. The Eagles will be in the mix for one of the last two playoff spots in region two this season. Alabama Christian has failed to qualify for the playoffs since 2009 but hope to return to the post season this year. The Eagles open the 2016 season on the road against non-region opponent Providence Christian on Friday, August 19. Last year the Providence Christian Eagles finished with an overall record of 8-3 and in second place in Class 2A region two. The Eagles lost in the second round of the Class 2A playoffs to Washington County by a score of 48-21. Alabama Christian and Providence Christian have met a total of 2 times on the football field. The Eagles have a 1-1-0 record against the Eagles. They last met in with | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
