Game MVP: QB Jeff Aaron, Jeff Davis
Records:  Jeff Davis (11-2); Mountain Brook (13-2)
Coaches: Charles Lee, Jeff Davis and Joey Jones, Mountain Brook
Game: Saturday December 14, 1996 Legion Field, Birmingham

Summary:
The Vols left little doubt about who the best team in 6A was for 1996. Despite a tight game statistically, Jeff Davis dominated the action by forcing Mountain Brook to abandon an ineffective running game and throw the ball 51 times. The game turned late in the first half when Mountain Brook coach Joey Jones chose to go for it on fourth and one from the Vol's two yard line.

The last play of the half was an incomplete pass and Jeff Davis held onto a 7-0 halftime lead. The Vols would score on their first possession of the second half to build a lead they would never relinquish.
