These two schools are just twenty miles apart as the crow flies making this a natural rivalry. The fact that both teams have won over 600 football games only makes the rivalry more intense as they both are in the hunt for a playoff spot and wish to add to their win total for the season. Hamilton leads the series with Winfield 57-36-5. The series was actually tied at the end of the 1971 season at 21-21-5 before the Aggies began to dominate the long series with a record of 36-15 over the past 50 times the two have met on the gridiron. The teams first met in 1922 with Hamilton taking a 46-0 victory over the Pirates. Since that initial meeting the teams played each season until 2020 except during World War II for a total of 98 games. The consecutive seasons played ended in 202 but came back for a couple of games in 2022 and 2023 with Winfield winning both those contest in blowout victories. While Hamilton is in the Marion County and Winfield is in a city school system it only helps to add to the rivalry. The towns are 20 miles apart and both are in Marion County. Well almost. Winfield is actually partially in Marion and Fayette County. In 2005 the Aggies lost their first five games of the season before getting hot and reeling off five straight wins including a 21-8 victory over No. 3 ranked Winfield in the season finale. It was the only loss for Winfield during the regular season. Total Meetings: 98 Series Record: Hamilton leads 57-36-5 First Meeting: 10/27/1922, Hamilton 46, Winfield 0 Last Meeting: 9/29/2023, Winfield 50, Hamilton 0 Longest Winning Streak: Hamilton 9 (1984-1992), Winfield 5 (1965-1969) Biggest Wins: Hamilton 60-6 (1996), Winfield 52-0 (1933 & 2022) Biggest Upsets: 2005 - Hamilton (5-5) upset Winfield (12-2) 21-8
