The 1941 Woodlawn Colonels were chosen State Champions.
The 1941 Colonels finished the season with a perfect 8-0 record and claimed not only the city championship but also the State Championship. They outscored their opponents 167-15.
The team was led by captain Sam Arthur and Howard Weldon. The champion Colonels placed five men on the All-City team. They included Maurice Wood, Howard Weldon, H.M. Smalley, Leon Cochran and Oscar Cagle.
