2016 ASWA Poll 




The Alabama Sports Writers Association have released their rankings for this week.

ASWA High School Football Poll
Week 1 -- Aug. 3, 2016

The Alabama high school football season is right around the corner and the Alabama Sports Writers Association have released their annual preseason poll to kick things off.

For the first time in the history of the school, McGill-Toolen is ranked Number One. Other teams that are ranked as high as they have ever been include; Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa, Mortimer Jordan and Hillcrest-Evergreen.

The last time Hewitt-Trussville was ranked this high was during the 1997 season. The last time Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa and New Brockton were even ranked was back in 1989.

The first football game played by a high school team in Alabama was in 1892 when Central Birmingham (Phillips) lost to Alabama 56-0 on November 11.
