2016 ASWA Poll 




The Alabama Sports Writers Association have released their rankings for this week.

ASWA High School Football Poll
Week 1 -- Oct. 18, 2016

A couple of new Number One teams dot the rankings this week. Andalusia is at the top of the 4A poll for the first time since the 1965 season. Right behind them is Haleyville which is ranked as high as they have been since 1987.

Scottsboro tops the 5A rankings and were last a #1 team in 1967. Carroll at #3 is as high as they have been since the 1990 season.

Hillcrest Tuscaloosa has never been ranked #1 and sits atop the 6A poll for the first time in school history. They are followed by Oxford at #2 who was last ranked this high in 1994.

Great Moments in Alabama High School Football History

In 1925 Langdale tied a record by defeating Milltown 125-0. Hamilton had set the record by thrashing Fayette 125-0 in 1915.
