The Alabama Sports Writers Association have released their rankings for this week.

Week 1 -- Oct. 12, 2016

Scottsboro moves up to #2 in the Class 5A pool this week. It is their highest ranking since early in the 1996 season. Carroll, the #4 team in 5A, is also as high as they have been since the 1990 season.

Great Moments in Alabama High School Football History

Morris Higginbotham coached three different teams to divisional state championships in the 1950s. He won titles at Walnut Grove in 1952, West Blocton in 1955 and Enterprise in 1960.
