 Glen Nunley 

Glen Murphy Nunley starred in football, baseball and basketball at Butler before graduating in 1955. Nunley, an All-State quarterback at Butler and earned a full scholarship to the University of Georgia.

If it werent for a knee injury that sidelined Nunley in college, the world might never had known his replacement, future NFL Hall of Famer, Fran Tarkenton.

In 1967, Nunley became the head football coach at Madison Academy. He led his teams over the next seven seasons to a combined 53-24-2 record. Following the 1974 season he stepped down as the coach at Madison Academy.

He served as the head football coach at Lee High School in Huntsville from 1979-81 with a 19-10-2 record before retiring from the sidelines.

He was inducted in to the Huntsville-Madison County Athletic Hall of Fame in 1991and served on the board of that organization for several years. His overall record as a head coach is 72-34-4 in eleven seasons as a head football coach in the Huntsville area.

Glen Nunley, 76, died at his home December 31, 2012. He will be remembered as one of Huntsville greatest multi-sports athletes and most effective motivators during a 31-year coaching career.
