Gordo and Reform are just eight miles apart so it is natural these two teams would face off each season in one of the better rivalries in the state. Although the schools are small they still want nothing more than to beat the other team each season. The series has taken on the name "8 Mile War" in recent history. Pickens County, located in the small town of Reform, often feels like the little brother to the somewhat larger town of Gordo. It does nothing to diminish the rivalry. Pickens County may be the underdog most seasons but rest assured they will come to play that night. The Green Wave lead the series 58-39-3 that began in 1920 when the two schools first played each other on the football field. The score to that first game has not been found to date. Except for a few years the teams generally play in the last game of each season. Gordo has actually won the last eleven games in the series and twenty-one of the last twenty-five played. Total Meetings: 100 Series Record: Gordo leads 58-39-3 First Meeting: 10/15/1920, Gordo, Pickens County (score unknown) Last Meeting: 9/27/2024, Gordo 44, Pickens County 0 Longest Winning Streak: Gordo 11 (2014-2024), Pickens County 9 (1949-1956) Biggest Wins: Gordo 58-0 (1964), Pickens County 44-0 (1947) Biggest Upsets: 2009 - Gordo (5-4) upset Pickens County (9-0) 28-7
