Dothan and Enterprise are 36 miles apart in southeast Alabama and met annually between 1961 and 2018 to settle which team is the king of high school football in the Wiregrass most years. The teams first played in 1913 splitting a pair of games. They played each year through the 1944 season before pausing the rivalry from 1945-1960. When the series resumed in 1961, the Tigers promptly handed the Wildcats their only loss of the season 26-17 to knock them out of any chance at a third straight state championship. The same thing happened in 1965 and 1966 when Dothan won a pair of regular season games to hand the Wildcats their only losses each season. The teams met a total of 88 times with Enterprise holding a 46-39-3 edge in the series. The Wildcats from Enterprise dominated the series in later years winning sixteen of the last seventeen meetings. Enterprise won the last seven games in the series to add to their advantage. The series sort of came to an end in 2019 as Dothan and Northview combined to form a new school we at AHSFHS.org recognize as Dothan High. These new football programs still compete each season, being in the same region, for one of the elusive playoff spots in Class 7A.
