 2023 Preview 


       Winterboro finished the 2022 season with a disappointing 3-7 record. Last year Winterboro finished sixth in Class 1A region six with a 1-5 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs.

       Winterboro took a step backwards last year with their first losing season since 2017. The Bulldogs lost as many games as in any season since 2013.

       Since 2010, Winterboro has gone a combined 73-65. Their 52.9% winning percentage ranks 24th in Class 1A over the past thirteen seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Winterboro has managed to compile a record of 126-140. Their 47.0% winning percentage ranks 28th in Class 1A and 221st in the AHSAA.




       The Bulldogs are led by head coach Skylar Mansfield who is entering his fourth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 19-14 over the past three seasons at Winterboro. Under his direction the Bulldogs have qualified for the playoffs a total of two times. They have won one region crown with Coach Mansfield.

       This season, the Bulldogs will be a long shot for one of the four playoff spots in region six.

       The Bulldogs open the 2023 season at home against non-region opponent Cedar Bluff on Thursday, August 24 at Bulldog Stadium. Last year the Cedar Bluff Tigers finished with an overall record of 4-7 and in fourth place in Class 1A region seven. The Tigers lost in the first round of the Class 1A playoffs to Meek by a score of 46-6.

       Winterboro and Cedar Bluff have met a total of 3 times on the football field. The Bulldogs have a 1-2-0 record against the Tigers. They last met in 2022 with Cedar Bluff winning by a score of 22-20.
