 2023 Preview 


       Tallassee completed the 2022 season with a 7-5 record. With their 3-2 region record and a third place finish in Class 5A region four, the Tigers earned a spot in the playoffs in 2022. Tallassee reached the second round of the playoffs before falling to Charles Henderson by a score of 34-7.

       Since 2010, Tallassee has gone a combined 90-54. Their 62.5% winning percentage ranks 13th in Class 5A over the past thirteen seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Tallassee has managed to compile a record of 160-116. Their 58.0% winning percentage ranks 15th in Class 5A and 102nd in the AHSAA.




       The Tigers are led by head coach Mike Battles Jr. who is entering his twelveth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 77-45 over the past eleven seasons at Tallassee. Under his direction the Tigers have qualified for the playoffs a total of eight times. They have won one region crown with Coach Battles Jr.. His 194 wins rank 18th among active coaches in the AHSAA. Over the course of his career, Coach Battles Jr.'s teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of nineteen times and won five region championships.

       Coach Battles Jr. needs six wins this season to reach the coveted 200 win milestone.

       The Tigers have a good shot at one of the last two playoff slots in region four this season.

      Junior Josh Griffin will be back this season at running back after rushing for 608 yards and 7 TDs in 2022.

       The Tigers open the 2023 season on the road against non-region opponent Reeltown on Thursday, August 24 at Nix-Webster-Oneal Stadium. Last year the Reeltown Rebels finished with an overall record of 10-2 and in first place in Class 2A region three. The Rebels lost in the quarter-finals round of the Class 2A playoffs to B.B. Comer by a score of 28-22.

       Tallassee and Reeltown have met a total of 20 times on the football field. The Tigers have a 10-10-0 record against the Rebels. They last met in 2022 with Tallassee winning by a score of 37-13.
