 2023 Preview 


       Rogers completed the 2022 season with a 7-4 record. With their 4-3 region record and a third place finish in Class 4A region seven, the Pirates earned a spot in the playoffs in 2022. Rogers's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Randolph by a score of 54-15.

       The Pirates improved in 2022 with their first winning season since 2018.

       Since 2010, Rogers has gone a combined 81-64. Their 55.9% winning percentage ranks 24th in Class 4A over the past thirteen seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Rogers has managed to compile a record of 148-127. Their 54.0% winning percentage ranks 20th in Class 4A and 144th in the AHSAA.




       The Pirates are led by head coach Daniel Garrett who is entering his third season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 12-10 over the past two seasons at Rogers. Under his direction the Pirates have qualified for the playoffs a total of two times. They have not won a region crown with Coach Garrett. Over the course of his career, Coach Garrett's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of two times .

       Rogers enters the 2023 season with a string of 6 consecutive wins on their home field at Pirate Field.

       The Pirates have a good shot at one of the last two playoff slots in region seven this season.

      Word is that Damian Thompson the all-state WR from Mars Hill has transferred to Rogers this fall.

       The Pirates open the 2023 season at home against non-region opponent Haleyville on Friday, August 25 at Pirate Field. Last year the Haleyville Lions finished with an overall record of 6-5 and in second place in Class 4A region five. The Lions lost in the first round of the Class 4A playoffs to Oneonta by a score of 56-14.

       Rogers and Haleyville have met a total of 7 times on the football field. The Pirates have a 3-4-0 record against the Lions. They last met in 2022 with Rogers winning by a score of 16-10.

       Rogers lost 4A All-State  offensive lineman Brady Brown to graduation. He was named to the second team last season.

  


Great Moments in Alabama High School Football History

In 1925 Langdale tied a record by defeating Milltown 125-0. Hamilton had set the record by thrashing Fayette 125-0 in 1915.
