 2023 Preview 


       Lynn completed the 2022 season with a 11-2 record. Last year Lynn captured the region five title and a number one seed in the Class 1A playoffs. They finished region play with a 8-0 record. Lynn lost in the quarter-finals of the playoffs last season to a good Coosa Christian team by a score of 46-29.

       The 495 points scored by the Bears last year were a team record in a single season. It marked the first time since the 2017 season that the Bears qualified for the playoffs. The Bears hope to continue the success they had last season. Coach Hastings saw improvement as they won eleven games following a 2-8 record in 2021.

       Since 2010, Lynn has gone a combined 75-65. Their 53.6% winning percentage ranks 19th in Class 1A over the past thirteen seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Lynn has managed to compile a record of 153-122. Their 56.0% winning percentage ranks 17th in Class 1A and 130th in the AHSAA.




       The Bears are led by head coach Mark Hastings who is entering his third season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 13-10 over the past two seasons at Lynn. Under his direction the Bears have qualified for the playoffs once. They have won one region crown with Coach Hastings. His 139 wins rank 37th among active coaches in the AHSAA. Over the course of his career, Coach Hastings' teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of fourteen times and won three region championships.

       With a returning cast of stars the Bears could be improved over last years team. Although last season they finished with a fantastic 11-2 record.

       The Bears enter the 2023 season riding a 8 game regular season winning streak. Lynn has won 8 consecutive region games. They have won 7 straight games on their home turf at Posey Field.

       The Bears are considered one of the favorites for the region five championship this season and a home game in the first round of the playoffs.

      QB Cale Tittle will be returning after completing 141 of 236 passes for 2,076 yards last season along with 26 touchdowns. Tittle also rushed for 1,141 yards and scored 13 TDs.

      Cole Kelly will be back this season at running back after rushing for 1,147 yards and 20 TDs in 2022.

      Receiver Logan Meadows will return after catching 54 passes good for 853 yards and 9 TDs as a junior last season.

       The Bears open the 2023 season at home against region opponent Marion County on Friday, September 1 at Posey Field. Last year the Marion County Red Raiders finished with an overall record of 9-4 and in third place in Class 1A region five. The Red Raiders lost in the quarter-finals round of the Class 1A playoffs to Pickens County by a score of 40-14.

       Lynn and Marion County have met a total of 33 times on the football field. The Bears have a 15-18-0 record against the Red Raiders. They last met in 2022 with Lynn winning by a score of 31-14.

      

       The Bears return 1A All-State Senior athlete Cale Tittle. He was named to the first team last season. The Bears also return Senior receiver Logan Madison. He was named to the second team. The Bears also return Senior offensive lineman Ryan Talley. He was named to the second team.
