 2023 Preview

Loachapoka completed the 2022 season with a 9-2 record. With their 6-1 region record and a second place finish in Class 1A region four, the Indians earned a spot in the playoffs in 2022. Loachapoka reached the second round of the playoffs before falling to Millry by a score of 63-12.

The Indians won as many games as in any season since 2013.

Since 2010, Loachapoka has gone a combined 67-72. Their 48.2% winning percentage ranks 28th in Class 1A over the past thirteen seasons.

Over the past 25 seasons, Loachapoka has managed to compile a record of 162-116. Their 58.0% winning percentage ranks 16th in Class 1A and 107th in the AHSAA.

The Indians are led by head coach Frederick Newton who is entering his fourth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 20-12 over the past three seasons at Loachapoka. Under his direction the Indians have qualified for the playoffs a total of three times. They have not won a region crown with Coach Newton. Over the course of his career, Coach Newton's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of three times .

The Indians could be a team to lookout for in 2023.

Loachapoka enters the 2023 season with a string of 7 consecutive wins on their home field at Loachapoka Stadium.

The Indians should be in contention for a playoff spot in region four this season. Hosting a first round playoff game on their home turf would be an advantage.

Jamari Payne will be back to anchor a very good defense in 2023.

The Indians open the 2023 season at home against non-region opponent LaFayette on Saturday, August 26 at Loachapoka Stadium. Last year the LaFayette Bulldogs finished with an overall record of 2-7 and in sixth place in Class 2A region three.

Loachapoka and LaFayette have met a total of 22 times on the football field. The Indians have a 10-12-0 record against the Bulldogs. They last met in 2022 with Loachapoka winning by a score of 38-6.

Loachapoka lost 1A All-State  defensive back JC Hart to graduation. He was named to the first team last season. Also graduating was teammate running back Jamaroun Satterwhite.

The Indians return 1A All-State Senior defensive lineman Jamari Payne. He was named to the second team last season.
