 2023 Preview 


       Jackson completed the 2022 season with a 8-3 record. With their 5-2 region record and a third place finish in Class 4A region one, the Aggies earned a spot in the playoffs in 2022. Jackson's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Andalusia by a score of 25-10.

       As one of the best football programs in the state since 2010, Jackson has gone a combined 123-39. Their 75.9% winning percentage ranks 1st in Class 4A over the past thirteen seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Jackson has managed to compile a record of 182-111. Their 62.0% winning percentage ranks 13th in Class 4A and 82nd in the AHSAA. Their last losing season was 2007.




       The Aggies are led by head coach Cody Flournoy who is entering his fifth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 31-17 over the past four seasons at Jackson. Under his direction the Aggies have qualified for the playoffs a total of four times. They have not won a region crown with Coach Flournoy. Over the course of his career, Coach Flournoy's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of five times .

       The Aggies enter the 2023 season riding a 7 game regular season winning streak.

       The Aggies are considered one of the favorites for the region one championship this season and a home game in the first round of the playoffs. The Aggies have successfully qualified for the playoffs every year since 2007 and expect to be included again when November rolls around.

       The Aggies open the 2023 season on the road against non-region opponent Demopolis on Friday, September 1 at Tiger Stadium. Last year the Demopolis Tigers finished with an overall record of 10-2 and in first place in Class 5A region three. The Tigers lost in the second round of the Class 5A playoffs to Faith Academy by a score of 36-15.

       Jackson and Demopolis have met a total of 15 times on the football field. The Aggies have a 7-7-1 record against the Tigers. They last met in 2022 with Jackson winning by a score of 43-20.

       Jackson lost 4A All-State  linebacker Jalen Pickens to graduation. He was named to the first team last season. Also graduating was teammate athlete Tychius Caves.

       The Aggies return 4A All-State Senior defensive back QJ Steele. He was named to the second team last season.

  


Great Moments in Alabama High School Football History

The first night game played between high school teams in the state occurred on September 23, 1927 when Pike Road and Cloverdale met in the Cramton Bowl in Montgomery.
