 2023 Preview

Greensboro finished the 2022 season with a disappointing 3-7 record. Last year Greensboro finished sixth in Class 3A region three with a 1-5 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs.

The Raiders last playoff victory came during the 2000 season. They would love to break through this year with a post season win.

Greensboro struggled on the defensive side of the football last year. The defense found little success in stopping opposing offenses as they gave up an average of 38.1 points a game.

Since 2010, Greensboro has gone a combined 61-75. Their 44.9% winning percentage ranks 37th in Class 3A over the past thirteen seasons.

Over the past 25 seasons, Greensboro has managed to compile a record of 118-148. Their 44.0% winning percentage ranks 41st in Class 3A and 251st in the AHSAA.

The Raiders will be under the direction of new head football coach Deon Washington as they enter the 2023 season.

The Raiders are on their seventh head football coach since 2013. The program needs some stability at the top to produce a winning attitude.

The Raiders will need to win a few more games this fall if they hope to grab one of the four playoff slots in region three this season.

The Raiders open the 2023 season at home against non-region opponent Greene County on Friday, August 25 at Robert Lucky Stadium. Last year the Greene County Tigers finished with an overall record of 4-6 and in seventh place in Class 2A region five.

Greensboro and Greene County have met a total of 12 times on the football field. The Raiders have a 8-4-0 record against the Tigers. They last met in 2022 with Greene County winning by a score of 30-24.
