 2023 Preview 


       Davidson finished the 2022 season with a disappointing 3-7 record. Last year Davidson finished sixth in Class 7A region one with a 1-5 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs.

       Since 2010, Davidson has gone a combined 72-66. Their 52.2% winning percentage ranks 16th in Class 7A over the past thirteen seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Davidson has managed to compile a record of 163-113. Their 59.0% winning percentage ranks 10th in Class 7A and 98th in the AHSAA.




       The Warriors are led by head coach Rick Cauley who is entering his fifth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 10-30 over the past four seasons at Davidson. The Warriors have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Cauley. Over the course of his career, Coach Cauley's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of three times .

       The Warriors will need to win a few more games this fall if they hope to grab one of the four playoff slots in region one this season.

      Derrick Jerome Butler will be back this season at running back after rushing for 1,338 yards and 16 TDs in 2022.

       The Warriors open the 2023 season at home against non-region opponent Hillcrest Evergreen on Friday, September 1 at Ladd-Peebles Stadium. Last year the Hillcrest Evergreen Jaguars finished with an overall record of 4-6 and in fifth place in Class 3A region one. The Jaguars closed out the regular season with a loss to Daphne by a score of 34-14.

       Davidson and Hillcrest Evergreen have met a total of 2 times on the football field. The Warriors have a 1-1-0 record against the Jaguars. They last met in 2022 with Hillcrest Evergreen winning by a score of 34-10.

      

       The Warriors return 7A All-State Senior running back Derrick Butler. He was named to the first team last season.

  


Great Moments in Alabama High School Football History

Parrish scored a record 77 points in a playoff game against Cedar Bluff in 2001. The Tornados were shutout the following week 19-0 by Courtland.
