 2022 Preview 


       Sylvania completed the 2021 season with a 8-3 record. With their 5-1 region record and a second place finish in Class 3A region seven, the Rams earned a spot in the playoffs in 2021. Sylvania's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Piedmont by a score of 40-20.

       Since 2010, Sylvania has gone a combined 78-54. Their 59.1% winning percentage ranks 22nd in Class 3A over the past twelve seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Sylvania has managed to compile a record of 147-121. Their 55.0% winning percentage ranks 25th in Class 3A and 139th in the AHSAA.




       The Rams are led by head coach Tyler Vann who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 8-3 record in his first season at Sylvania. The Rams saw improvement from a 5-6 record the season before coach Vann arrived. Under his direction the Rams have qualified for the playoffs once. They have not won a region crown with Coach Vann.

       Coach Vann's overall record as a head football coach in two season stands at 13-9 (59.1%). Over the course of his career, Coach Vann's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of two times .

       The Sylvania Rams will play in Class 3A region six during the 2022 season. Following realignment, the Rams remain in 3A but move from region seven over to region six. The Rams have one of the toughest schedules in Class 3A. Their opponents had a combined record of 74-42 last season. That ranks 1st in Class 3A and 13th in the AHSAA.

       The Rams enter the 2022 season riding a 6 game regular season winning streak.

       The Rams should be in contention for a playoff spot in region six this season. They will be looking to gain an advantage by hosting a first round postseason game.

       The Rams open the 2022 season at home against non-region opponent Saks on Friday, August 26 at Ram Stadium. Last year the Saks Wildcats finished with an overall record of 12-2 and in first place in Class 3A region five. The Wildcats lost in the semi-finals round of the Class 3A playoffs to Piedmont by a score of 52-44.

       Sylvania and Saks have met a total of 5 times on the football field. The Rams have a 3-2-0 record against the Wildcats. They last met in 2021 with Saks winning by a score of 42-32.
