 2022 Preview 


       Hackleburg completed the 2021 season with a 6-5 record. With their 5-2 region record and a third place finish in Class 1A region eight, the Panthers earned a spot in the playoffs in 2021. Hackleburg's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Hubbertville by a score of 46-14.

       The Panthers improved in 2021 with their first winning season since 2017.

       Since 2010, Hackleburg has gone a combined 89-48. Their 65.0% winning percentage ranks 11th in Class 1A over the past twelve seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Hackleburg has managed to compile a record of 170-109. Their 61.0% winning percentage ranks 14th in Class 1A and 84th in the AHSAA.




       The Panthers are led by head coach Rod Hudson who is entering his fourteenth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 103-49 over the past thirteen seasons at Hackleburg. Under his direction the Panthers have qualified for the playoffs a total of twelve times. They have won five region crowns with Coach Hudson.

       Coach Hudson's overall record as a head football coach in thirteen season stands at 103-49 (67.8%). His 103 wins rank 53rd among active coaches in the AHSAA.

       The Hackleburg Panthers will play in Class 1A region eight during the 2022 season.

       Overall, the region is among the weakest in the state. Qualifying for one of the playoffs spots could be a little easier. The Panthers should be in contention for a playoff spot in region eight this season. They will be looking to gain an advantage by hosting a first round postseason game.

       The Panthers open the 2022 season at home against non-region opponent Phil Campbell on Friday, August 19 at Ray Family Stadium. Last year the Phil Campbell Bobcats finished with an overall record of 7-4 and in second place in Class 3A region eight. The Bobcats lost in the first round of the Class 3A playoffs to J.B. Pennington by a score of 10-7.

       Hackleburg and Phil Campbell have met a total of 89 times on the football field. The Panthers have a 50-38-1 record against the Bobcats. They last met in 2021 with Phil Campbell winning by a score of 31-8.

       Hackleburg returns 1A All-State sophomore quarterback Blaise Vickery. He was named to the honorable mention team last season. The Panthers also return Senior receiver Daniel Cooper. He was named to the first team.
