 2022 Preview 


       Curry finished the 2021 season with a disappointing 0-10 record. Last year Curry finished seventh in Class 4A region five with a 0-6 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs.

       The Yellow Jackets last playoff victory came during the 1996 season. They would love to break through this year with a post season win.

       The offense struggled putting points on the score board as Curry averaged scoring just 8.6 points a game. The Yellow Jackets also struggled on the defensive side of the football as they found little success in stopping opposing offenses and allowed an average of 47.2 points a game.

       The Yellow Jackets would prefer to forget the past two seasons as they have finished with a 0-20 record. Since 2010, the Curry football program has struggled with a record of 23-99.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Curry has not won much with a record of 51-202. Their 20.0% winning percentage ranks 61st in Class 4A and 386th in the AHSAA. The Yellow Jackets have struggled on the football field with no winning seasons during this time. Their last winning season was 1996.




       The Yellow Jackets are led by head coach D.J. Emerson who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 0-10 record in his first season at Curry. The Yellow Jackets have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Emerson.

       The Curry Yellow Jackets will play in Class 4A region five during the 2022 season.

       The Yellow Jackets enter the 2022 season in the middle of a 34 game losing streak. They would like nothing better than to end the string of losses early in the season.

       This season, the Yellow Jackets will be a long shot for one of the four playoff spots in region five. After not winning a single game last year, the goal at Curry will be to simply win some games.

       The Yellow Jackets open the 2022 season on the road against non-region opponent Cold Springs on Friday, August 19 at Eagle Stadium. Last year the Cold Springs Eagles finished with an overall record of 0-10 and in seventh place in Class 2A region five. The Eagles closed out the regular season with a loss to Vinemont by a score of 30-6.

       Curry and Cold Springs have met a total of 3 times on the football field. The Yellow Jackets have a 1-2-0 record against the Eagles. They last met in 1977 with Curry winning by a score of 22-6.
