Springwood completed the 2016 season with a 5-5 record. Since 2010, Springwood has gone a combined 41-37. Their 53.0% winning percentage ranks 7th in Class AAA over the past seven seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Springwood has managed to compile a record of 171-119. Their 59.0% winning percentage ranks 6th in Class AAA and 12th in the AISA. The Wildcats are led by head coach Thomas Hill who is entering his fifth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 20-23 over the past four seasons at Springwood. Under his direction the Wildcats have qualified for the playoffs a total of two times. They have not won a region crown with Coach Hill. Coach Hill's overall record as a head football coach in four season stands at 20-23 (46.5%). The Springwood Wildcats will play in Class AAA region one during the 2017 season. With a little luck and some improvement, the Wildcats could find themselves challenging for one of the playoff spots for region one this season. Springwood came up short of the playoffs last year but are optimistic of a return to the post season this year. Senior Christian Lancaster returns after catching 26 passes for 466 yards and 3 touchdowns. Junior Andrue Davis returns after catching 18 passes for 330 yards and 1 TD. The defense returns Junior DB Daryl Moore who got in on 70 tackles along with Freshman LB O.J. Tolbert and his 75 tackles and Senior lineman Zack Guy who registered 90 tackles last season. The Wildcats open the 2017 season at home against non-region opponent Kingwood Christian on Friday, August 25 at Springwood Stadium. Last year the Kingwood Christian Lions finished with an overall record of 2-9 and in fourth place in Class AA region one. The Lions lost in the first round of the Class AA playoffs to Autauga Academy by a score of 61-0. Springwood and Kingwood Christian have met a total of 6 times on the football field. The Wildcats have a 3-3-0 record against the Lions. They last met in 2016 with Springwood winning by a score of 26-6. Springwood returns AISA All-State Junior defensive back Daryl Moore.
