2017 Preview | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
North River Christian finished the 2016 season with a disappointing 0-9 record. The Chargers lost as many games as in any season since 2006. The Chargers have not qualified for the playoffs since the 2011 season and would love to end that streak this year. The Chargers hope to rebound after a down year. Last season they did not win a game which followed a 6-3 record in 2015. Since 2010, North River Christian has gone a combined 20-44. Their 31.0% winning percentage ranks 11th in Class A over the past seven seasons. Over the past 19 seasons, North River Christian has managed to compile a record of 71-97. Their 42.0% winning percentage ranks 12th in Class A and 32nd in the AISA. The Chargers are led by head coach Maurice Adams who is entering his fourth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 8-17 over the past three seasons at North River Christian. The Chargers have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Adams. Coach Adams' overall record as a head football coach in three season stands at 8-17 (32.0%). The North River Christian Chargers will play in Class A region two during the 2017 season. The Chargers enter the 2017 season in the middle of a 9 game losing streak. They would like nothing better than to end the string of losses early in the season. This season, the Chargers will be a long shot for one of the four playoff spots in region two. After not winning a single game last year, the goal at North River Christian will be to simply win some games. The Chargers open the 2017 season at home against non-region opponent Pickens Academy on Friday, August 25 at Charger Park. Last year the Pickens Academy Pirates finished with an overall record of 5-5 and in fifth place in Class AA region two. The Pirates ended last season on a positive note with a win over Kingwood Christian by a score of 58-14 after failing to gain a playoff spot. North River Christian and Pickens Academy have met a total of 2 times on the football field. The Chargers have a 0-2-0 record against the Pirates. They last met in 2016 with Pickens Academy winning by a score of 55-6. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
