 2017 Preview 


       Coosa Valley Academy finished the 2016 season with a disappointing 2-8 record.

       The Rebels would prefer to forget the past two seasons as they have finished with a 2-18 record. Since 2010, Coosa Valley Academy has gone a combined 27-49. Their 36.0% winning percentage ranks 9th in Class AA over the past seven seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Coosa Valley Academy has managed to compile a record of 106-154. Their 41.0% winning percentage ranks 9th in Class AA and 33rd in the AISA.

Steve McCord leaves Coosa Valley Academy after two seasons with a 2-18 record. His overall record in twenty-five seasons as a head coach is a combined 164-148 but McCord found the going tougher at Coosa Valley.


Dane Reece will take over the reins at Coosa Valley for the 2017 season in hopes of turning around the football program.



       The Coosa Valley Academy Rebels will play in Class AA region one during the 2017 season.

       Overall, the region is among the weakest in the state. Qualifying for one of the playoffs spots could be a little easier. With a little luck and some improvement, the Rebels could find themselves challenging for one of the playoff spots for region one this season. Coosa Valley Academy has failed to qualify for the playoffs since 2013 but hope to return to the post season this year.

       The Rebels open the 2017 season on the road against non-region opponent Chambers Academy on Friday, August 25 at Torbert Field. Last year the Chambers Academy Rebels finished with an overall record of 12-1 and in first place in Class A region one. The Rebels lost in the Class A State Championship game last season when they were defeated by Marengo Academy. They final score was 34-33 in Troy.

       Coosa Valley Academy and Chambers Academy have met a total of 33 times on the football field. The Rebels have a 8-25-0 record against the Rebels. They last met in 2016 with Chambers Academy winning by a score of 47-0.
