Lowndes Academy completed the 2015 season with a 5-5 record. The Rebels have not qualified for the playoffs since the 2011 season and would love to end that streak this year. Since 2010, Lowndes Academy has gone a combined 26-38. Their 41.0% winning percentage ranks 10th in Class A over the past six seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Lowndes Academy has managed to compile a record of 161-121. Their 57.0% winning percentage ranks 4th in Class A and 14th in the AISA. The Rebels are led by head coach Bob Taylor who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 5-5 record in his first season at Lowndes Academy. The Rebels saw improvement from a 1-9 record the season before coach Taylor arrived. The Rebels have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Taylor. Coach Taylor's overall record as a head football coach in twelve season stands at 53-72 (42.4%). Over the course of his career, Coach Taylor's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of six times . The Lowndes Academy Rebels will play in Class A region one during the 2016 season. The Rebels will be in the mix for one of the last two playoff spots in region one this season. Lowndes Academy has failed to qualify for the playoffs since 2011 but hope to return to the post season this year. The Rebels open the 2016 season at home against non-region opponent Macon-East Academy on Friday, August 19 at Memorial Stadium. Last year the Macon-East Academy Knights finished with an overall record of 3-8 and in fourth place in Class AA region two. The Knights lost in the first round of the Class AA playoffs to Marengo Academy by a score of 60-14. Lowndes Academy and Macon-East Academy have met a total of 10 times on the football field.
