 2016 Preview 


       Last year Lincoln finished fifth in Class 5A region 6 with a 3-4 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs.

       Since 2010, Lincoln has gone a combined 29-38. Their 43.0% winning percentage ranks 32nd in Class 5A over the past six seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Lincoln has managed to compile a record of 147-136. Their 52.0% winning percentage ranks 29th in Class 5A and 164th in the AHSAA.

       The Golden Bears are led by head coach Brad Wallace who is entering his third season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 15-18 over the past three seasons at Lincoln. Under his direction the Golden Bears have qualified for the playoffs a total of two times. They have won one region crown with Coach Wallace.

       Coach Wallace's overall record as a head football coach in three seasons stands at 15-18 (45.5%). Over the course of his career, Coach Wallace's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of two times and won one region championship.

      

      The Lincoln Golden Bears will play in Class 5A region 4 during the 2016 season. Following realignment, the Golden Bears remain in 5A but move from region 6 over to region 4.

      

       The Golden Bears open the 2016 season at home against non-region opponent Leeds on Friday, August 19 at Keith Howard Memorial Stadium. Last year the Leeds Green Wave finished with an overall record of 13-2 and in first place in Class 4A region 3. The won the Class 4A State Championship last season when they defeated Fayette County by a score of 55-7 in the Super Six finals in Tuscaloosa.

       Lincoln and Leeds have met a total of 18 times on the football field. The Golden Bears have a 5-13-0 record against the Green Wave. They last met in 2023 with Leeds winning by a score of 30-14.
