 2016 Preview 


       Last year Alabama School Deaf finished in Class region 0 with a 0-0 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs.

       Since 2010, Alabama School Deaf has gone a combined 24-30. Their 44.0% winning percentage ranks 1st in Class over the past six seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Alabama School Deaf has managed to compile a record of 125-108. Their 54.0% winning percentage ranks 1st in Class and 1st in the .

       The Silent Warriors are led by head coach Herminio Gonzalez who is entering his first season at the helm. His team finished with a 3-5 record in his first season at Alabama School Deaf. The Silent Warriors have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Gonzalez.

       The Silent Warriors open the 2016 season at home against non-region opponent Waterloo on Friday, August 19 at Kiwanis Field. Last year the Waterloo Cougars finished with an overall record of 1-9 and in seventh place in Class 1A region 8. The closed out the regular season with a loss to OPEN by a score of 999-999.

       Alabama School Deaf and Waterloo have met a total of 4 times on the football field. The Silent Warriors have a 1-3-0 record against the Cougars. They last met in 2016 with Waterloo winning by a score of 40-0.

Bart Starr received coaching from Kentucky great Babe Parilli his senior season at Sidney Lanier in hopes of joining Bear Bryant at Kentucky. He had to settle for Alabama.
