Playoffs 1930

The 1930 playoff teams were determined by selecting a champion from among the ten regions of Mississippi. The Northeast region was a "tangled situation" which precluded the possibility of obtaining a champion from that district. So, nine regions would compete for a state championship in 1930.

Forest had to play an extra game on November 21st against a strong Louisville team but came out victorious by a score of 14-7. In the semi-finals, Picayune and Forest played five quarters without either team able to score so the winner was decided by a coin flip.

Eventually Greenwood shutout all three opponents on their way to a 39-0 victory over Picayune in the championship game. The Bulldogs outscored their opposition 405-6 on their way to a perfect 10-0 season and a state title.

Below are the playoff games from the 1930 season along with the Regions each team represented in parenthesis. I added links to view the season for the finalists.
