Team Timeline First Team: 1879 2001 - The team was led by head coach Charlie Weatherbie until he was replaced by Rick Lantz for the last three games of the season. 2007 - Paul Johnson accepted the head coaching position at Georgia Tech prior to the final game of the season. Offensive line coach Ken Niumatalolo was promoted to interim head coach.
