Article in Selma Times Journal by then sports editor Jamie Wallace discussing West Alabama high school teams.Akron High ranked 6 in 1a standings.Wallce went on to comment that Akron was the smallest high school in the country that fielded a team.He went to say in the late 50s or early 60s when Akron and Carlowville played they were the two smallest schools in the country to field teams.I know Texas had 8 man and maybe some other states too.
