With Barber Shop Gurus Week 2 out, I want to highlight some games that I'm interested in. These might not have the most playoff implications, but these games could be a good measuring stick for how good some teams may turn out to be.
Leroy at Clarke County Pisgah at Fyffe Hackleburg at Lynn Excel at W.S. Neal Gordo at Bibb County West Morgan at Brooks Central Clay County at Benjamin Russell Hillcrest Evergreen at Andalusia Mountain Brook at Parker Oxford at Moody Huffman at Columbia Boaz at Albertville Robertsdale at Elberta
I don't know how often I'll do this but feel free to ask any questions or talk about other potential interesting games I suppose. |

I am pretty interested in Pisgah vs Fyffe. How does Fyffe rebound from something we haven't seen them suffer in quite sometime?
Hackleburg/Lynn will be interesting. Lynn losing to Meek was a slight surprise. Hackleburg lost some really important players off last years team.

- Saraland lost in the first round of the playoffs
- Henry Ruggs was an All-State HS Junior
- Bo Nix was a HS Freshman at Scottsboro
I guess what I'm saying is, Huffman is probably going to win this one. |

The last time Fyffe started a season 0-2 was the same year as.....
the launch of the Mir Space Station by the Soviet Union the Chernobyl disaster the Space Shuttle Challenger exploded the Iran-Contra affair came to light top movies included Top Gun, Crocodile Dundee, Platoon
State champions in Alabama included some schools that no longer play football: Lee Montgomery, Gadsden, Litchfield and Crossville.
Welcome to 1986 my friend.

I can't beleive no one has mentioned West Morgan @ Brooks.
WM opened up with a win vs. Randolph last week. First chance to see Brooks. We get a game with high playoff implications in week 2. Should be a fun one! |

I think Fyffe wins ugly, which I'm sure they'd take against a good Pisgah team.
I know WM returns a couple of good skill guys but had to replace much of their supporting cast. But even with those losses it still doesn't seem as steep as the 2024 offseason was and we know how that turned out. Brooks probably hangs for a while but WM pulls away late.
Boaz and Albertville both left me with more questions than answers after Week 0. I expected Boaz to have little trouble with MadCo and was surprised they were down 7-0 at halftime. Second half was night and day though. I don't think Arab won against the Aggies so much as Albertville lost the game. Winegarden is a great coach, and I'm just a know-nothing fan, but faking a punt with 2 minutes left (not successful) and a lead in your own territory is probably going to be my most disagreeable play call this year. Especially when the defense had only given up one touchdown all game. Regardless, I was really impressed at the improvement Albertville showed. If Boaz comes out flat again I can see Albertville stealing this one. |

Lynn losing not surprising due to their extreme youth. Literally about 60% of their team is 8th and 9th graders. I believe they have one soph. Hackleburg even with all their grad losses should still win at Lynn. Now if Hack loses to Lynn could be a long year for them. I have them finishing 3rd in the region behind Addison/Meek. |

Lynn lost most of their talent from last year, that loss to Meek should have been worse. Lynn only scored on a kickoff return TD to open the 2nd half. Meek also had 2 TDs called back for illegal man downfield and had 2 or 3 other drives stall out in the redzone. |

Keep in mind Boaz starts a freshman at QB and have young guys all over the field. They lost a lot off of last years team. Also, brand new HC, DC, and offensive system. MadCo was not terrible. That big RB they have and their OL was pretty good.
Go Eagles! |
