| Game MVP: QB Gary Banks, Southern Choctaw |

| Coaches: Larry Boykin, Southern Choctaw and Lineville |
| Game: Played Friday December 3, 1999 at Legion Field, Birmingham |
|
| |
Summary: The Southern Choctaw Indians, behind the leadership of senior quarterback Gary Banks, won the 2A state championship over Lineville 27-7. Banks is a two time MVP of the championship game as he also won the award last year in a winning effort.
All he did was rush for 144 yards, complete 5 of 9 passes for
another 42 yards and intercept a pass.
The game remained
close after halftime at 13-7 until Banks would score a couple of
touchdowns on runs of 32 and 45 yards to put the game out of
reach. The loss marked the third in four years for Lineville in
the title game but the Aggies did set a school record with 14
wins in a season. Lineville turned the ball over five times to
take away any chance the Aggies had of winning the game. |

| Game MVP: Mario Harris and Cedric Hampton, Courtland |
| Records: Courtland (9-6); Brantley (14-1) |
| Coaches: Lymos McDonald, Courtland and David Lowery, Brantley |
| Game: Played Thursday December 2, 1999 at Legion Field, Birmingham |
|
| |
Summary: Brantley came into the game with a
stellar 14-0 record against a Courtland team
that had gone 4-6 in the regular season with a very difficult schedule.
So much for records. Courtland turned their underdog role into a
13-10 victory for their fifth state championship since 1988.
Brantley kicker Gregory Daniels missed a 28 yard field goal with
10 seconds remaining in the game.
The kick, if good, would have
kept the Bulldog's hopes alive and sent the game into overtime.
Instead Brantley was unable to defend their 1A title in 1999.
Brantley would regain the lead with 3:40 to play on a 39 yard
field goal by Bo Daniels but it would be short lived because 39
seconds later Courtland would charge back into the lead on the 9
yard run by Harris.
Chauncey Burnett would return the ensuing
kickoff 52 yards to put Brantley in position for the win but
Daniels would miss the field goal attempt that ended the game. |
