            West was named Honorable Mention All-State in 1959, made first team All-State and All-Conference as senior Also ran track, played baseball. Was All-State in basketball as a senior; In little more than two seasons as an end, caught 85 passes for 935 yards and nine touchdowns; Senior year, averaged 12 tackles per game , Also handled kickoffs.
