 High School Bio:

            Phillips received the most votes for the 1953 all state team and was considered the best player in the state. He had the distinction of winning honors in three sports. In football, Red was selected for All-State, All-Southern and Honorable Mention for All-American. Equally as good in basketball, he topped off All-County and All-District honors. In track, he ranked second in discus and third in shot put. Had captained his team and played three years of varsity football. Coach Hamp Lyons of Benjamin Russell lists Reds grid statistics as:10 touchdowns in 8 ball games, completed 33 passes out of 38.





Great Moments in Alabama High School Football History

Collinsville completed the 1931 season with a record of 1-4-5. The five ties will forever be a state record since all games are now decided by overtime.
