            Played halfback on varsity team for 2 years and was captain. Earned MVP in 75 & 76, Outstanding Sr. Back Award, Player of Week, Post Herald Prep Player of Week, All-County, Metro Back of the Year, All-State Honorable Mention. Had 201 rushes for 1,537 yards and 18 touchdowns.

The first football game played by a high school team in Alabama was in 1892 when Central Birmingham (Phillips) lost to Alabama 56-0 on November 11.
