            Hughes played 2 years varsity football and received the Birmingham News All-City Award, Birmingham Post-Herald All-City, All-State, and Lineman of the Week. He received Honorable Mention on Coach & Athletes All-American Team, also. He enjoys track and particularly Shot Put & Discus throwing.
