Scott Martin hired at Ohatchee and Heath Harmon is let go at White Plains. From The Anniston Star.
The board on Thursday also hired Scott Martin as head football coach for Ohatchee High School. Martin, a Baton Rouge native, has more than 20 years of high school head coaching experience in Louisiana and Alabama, including stints at Hillcrest High School in Tuscaloosa and Calera High School, as well as coaching Baltimore Ravens Super Bowl team member Ed Reed while Reed was in high school at Destrehan High School in Louisiana.
Although 3A Ohatchee is a smaller school than Martin?s last jobs at the high school level, the new coach said he?s not concerned about the size.
?Once you get between the lines, it?s the same game,? Martin said. ?I don?t care if you?re playing in front of 1,000 people or 10,000 people.?
Martin said his goal is to build a successful program at Ohatchee which hasn?t had a winning season in 11 years.
The board on Thursday decided not to renew the contract of White Plains High School head football coach Heath Harmon. Dyar said the board made the decision based on the recommendation of Principal Andy Ward. Ward did not attend the meeting, but Dyar said the principal thanked Harmon for his sixyear tenure as head coach in his recommendation letter to the board.

A few surprising moves this year. The Dubose move is at the top of the list. Mike Dean to Mary Montgomery is a close second.
There are some great jobs for a few lucky incoming coaches at Russellville, Deshler, Florence, Sweet Water, Murphy, Charles Henderson, American Christian and North Jackson.
Those schools are 967-369 since 2000. That's a winning percentage of 72%. Most coaches would be proud of that. It is gonna be interesting to see how these programs do with the changes. And, we ain't done yet.
