Escambia County High School (Atmore, AL) released their football coach Kyle Davis back in December. The Escambia County BOE recently hired Mark Heaton as the new head football coach. Mark Heaton was previously the head coach at J.U. Blacksher High School (Uriah, AL). No word on who the new J.U. Blacksher coach will be.

Randy Sparks from Wadley is the new Randolph County coach replacing Rick Coleman.

Thompson High School has replaced football coach Bran Maner with assistant Bruce Hill for the upcoming season.

Alex Wilson is out at Anniston after only 3 years. He turned an awful program around and made the second round of teh playoffs in 2009.

Carver-Birmingham's new coach for 2010 is Billy Culver. The coach in 2009, Daryl Steward, was not tenured and his contract as a teacher was not renewed.

Phil Wilson will come out of retirement to be HC. Randy White and Craig Bell will be his asst as I have been told. I am not sure if that is official.

Boys basketball coach Jerome Sanders and girls basketball coach Herbert Blackmon will share the football coaching duties this season, said Monroe County Superintendent Melanie Ryals.

I saw that one in the newspaper. I do not have a way to show two coaches properly. I just have to list them both with a hyphen between the names. I have tried a few things as this has occurred in the past with no success. I guess we will have to live with it that way for now.
On the same subject and not to knock anyone's choice for head coach, but I have rarely seen anything that worked well when run by committee. I would think it could get interesting in the right intense situation.

Bill Smith moves from Vina to Tharptown.
