Gaston head football coach Swane Morris is stepping away from his duties at the end of the school year to pursue another coaching opportunity in Georgia, he told The Gadsden Times on Saturday.
Morris, who would have been in his 20th season as a head coach in Alabama this fall, would not say where in Georgia he will be coaching, but did say it will not be a head coaching position.
?I felt it?s just perfect timing given that my son will be a freshman next year and the results of the last three seasons. It just all added up,? he said.
Morris was head coach of the Bulldogs for the last seven seasons where he amassed a 30-45 record.
In total, he coached 16 seasons at Gaston where he finished with a 100-82 record. He led his alma mater to the playoffs in 12 of the 16 seasons, including a state semifinal run in 2008. Morris was named the Etowah County Coach of the Year four times (2002, 2004, 2007 and 2008).

Per WAFF 48 Carl Prather's facebook Mae Jemison HC Kelvis White has accepted the Bob Jones job. This will put him in the same region as his brother Laron White in 7A region 4.

Shades Valley has announced Jamie Mitchell as its next head football coach. Mitchell, 53, comes to Shades Valley from North Little Rock High in Arkansas, where in five seasons, he was 53-12, and led NLR to four consecutive 7A state title game appearances, including one state title!
Before he was at NLR, Mitchell was the head coach at five schools in Mississippi (Starkville, Itawamba, Olive Branch, Charleston & Ripley) over 18 seasons, winning 6 region championships, with three state title game appearances and one championship. His record over those 18 seasons in Mississippi is 164-61.
His overall record as a head coach since 1997 is 217-73, with seven state title game appearances and two titles. In 23 seasons as a head coach, Mitchell has only had two losing seasons, with 13 seasons of ten or more wins.

Rodney Bivens Jr. takes over as head coach for the Falcons, officially being named to the position at Tuesday?s Tuscaloosa City School Board meeting. Bivens, a 2004 Central graduate, takes over for Dennis Conner, a 1983 Central grad, who stepped down as head coach after the 2019 season. He coached the Falcons since 2010.
Bivens served as the Falcons offensive coordinator this past season as well as 2013-14.
