Buddy Anderson, now in his 46th year at Vestavia Hills, is part of the 12-member 2018 induction class for the National High School Hall of Fame administered by the National Federation of State High School Associations.
Anderson become the fourth high school coach from the state and 12th Alabamian to be enshrined in the national Hall of Fame, according to the AHSAA Others include former AHSAA executive directors Cliff Harper (1987), Bubba Scott (1990) and Dan Washburn (2011); coaches Glenn Daniel of Luverne (1999); Wallace Guy O'Brien (1992) and Jim Tate of St. Paul's (2013); athletes Bart Starr (1989) of Sidney Lanier, Pat Sullivan (2012) of John Carroll and Ozzie Newsome (2014) of Colbert County; and contest officials Dan Gaylord (1988) and Sam Short (2007).
