Well, as I've done every year for a while, I've written a recap of my travels around the country attending games. This year, for the first time, I attended two games in Alabama. First at Montgomery's Cramton Bowl between Sidney Lanier and Russell County on a Thursday and the following night between Guntersville and Etowah.
All tolled, I attended 86 games in 13 different states. Including new states: Virginia, Alabama, and South Dakota. Next year, I'm considering coming down for the SECIS games if they're in Montgomery during the middle of August. Though the heat may preclude me from that. Plan is to head to Florida again, and then return north through Georgia for the Corky Kell Classic at the new Mercedes Benz Stadium.
But, I haven't decided on anything quite yet.
However, if you want to read my recap, it can be found here:

Also, I have my previous recaps going back to 2010 here: http://www.sykotyk.com/football/
I plan to add more in the future weekly or at least monthly. Prior to this, I posted updated to various message boards I was signed up to. I may post the older recaps of individual games or weekends there. Including Alabama and Guntersville.
If you're interested in pictures, I haven't posted 2017 yet, but you can find older pictures at: http://www.flickr.com/sykotyk/sets/
Overall, I've attended 722 varsity high school football games since 2010. And 822 overall lifetime. After a couple of slow years, I'm figuring I may see 90+ again in 2018. Just depends on how things go.
Overall, Alabama was my 36th state, with South Dakota a few months later being my 37th state I've attended high school football games in. No real plans to add to that tally next year. But will in the future, I'm sure.
Have a good day. |
