  1943 - Did not field a team.
  1984 - Pell was fired three games into the season. Assistant coach Galen Hall finished the season.
  1984 - Assessed a postseason ban following an NCAA investigation, and the SEC vacated any championship. The Sugar Bowl automatic bid for the conference champion was awarded to LSU.
  1985 - Were ineligible to win the SEC title, receive a bowl bid, or appear on live television.
  1989 - Hall was replaced as the head coach after five games by his defensive coordinator, Gary Darnell.
  1990 - Florida was ineligible to win the SEC title or receive a bowl bid because of lingering NCAA probation.
  2004 - Interim head coach Charlie Strong led the team in the bowl game.
  2014 - Interim coach D.J. Durkin led the team as the Gators won the Birmingham Bowl.
  2017 - Jim McElwain was dismissed on October 28, after which defensive coordinator Randy Shannon served as the interim head coach.
  2021 - Dan Mullen was fired on November 21, and the Gators were led by interim head coach Greg Knox, who coached the final regular season game and the bowl.
