 The 1961 Russellville Golden Tigers were chosen Class A State Champions by the Birmingham News from District 4.
 

 
 

Bill Doty in his first season as head coach at Russellville led the Golden Tigers to the 1961 state championship. He was assisted by line coach John Blackwell.

All Tennessee Valley Conference honors went to tackle James Stone and fullback Elmer Murray. Jack Graham and David Fisher were defensive leaders for the Tigers by tying for the most tackles during the season. Back of the year award went to Harold Miller while James Stone won most valuable lineman.
