Today we will explore 3A football in Alabama and the 2010 season. Two new schools join the 3A ranks this season when Sipsey Vally and Randolph begin play. Sipsey Valley is coached by Lance Tucker of Fayette County and Alabama fame. They kick off the season with a match up against Fayette County and Lance's dad Coach Waldon Tucker as he goes for his 300th win.

Seven schools move up from class 2A where they will find the going a little tougher. Winston County, Washington County and Clay County were all contenders last season in 2A. Eleven schools made the move down from class 4A with Handley and Opp being the most notable.

Region Five went a combined 57-37 last season for the best overall record with Region One close behind at 54-36. The most intriguing region has to be Region Three with Clay County, Handley and Leeds leading the way. Region four appears to be the weakest region using last years combined records.

Class 3A seems to be wide open with no clear cut favorite to show up in Auburn come December. Any of the top ten teams appear to be capable of running the tables.

We threw all the teams in an old fruit jar we dug up and began to draw them out until we came up with this article. This is our projected order of finish for 3A.

Great Moments in Alabama High School Football History

Collinsville completed the 1931 season with a record of 1-4-5. The five ties will forever be a state record since all games are now decided by overtime.
