2019 Weekly Predictions

The high school football playoffs are underway and the second round is officially over. The Power Ratings should better reflect the best teams. That is not always the case as upsets do occur. Last week the favorites won 39 and missed on 13 games. The favorites won just over 75% of their games.

The Power Ratings predicted all eight winners in 4A. We did miss on a bunch of games where the favored team was only predicted to win by a point or two.

There were a couple of  upsets this week. Only four teams favored by more than a touchdown lost this week. The most notable was Jasper falling to Central Clay County by a score of 20-7 in a rematch from early in this season won by Jasper. The Vikings were considered a 13 point favorites entering the game. Mobile Christian ended Pike Road's Cinderella season by defeating them 28-10. The Leopards were 12 point underdogs.

Each week we will let you know how the Computer did and how many favorites won according to the AHSFHS Power Ratings.

Great Moments in Alabama High School Football History

Hamilton shutout an amazing 14 consecutive opponents from 1928-1930. A streak that will never be matched in modern football.
